Wisconsin Encampment Day 3 is complete- and what a day!
Vermont Air National Guard’s F35 Fighter Jet – 514 Flight Test Squadron, KC-135, and HH-60 Blackhawk helicopter were available for our cadets to explore! There were also experiences in rappelling, marksmanship, and fire / emergency response throughout the day. Cadets were out on Volk Field ANGB and the La Crosse Rifle Club for a big day of Aviation, Airport Fire Department, and Marksmanship.
WBS (Wisconsin Basic School) activities included early PT (of course!) and a variety of activities including going out to the Flight line to see a KC-135, a HH-60 Blackhawk, and an F-35 aircraft.
They followed up with a tour and demos at Volk Field Fire Dept. and then a challenging Egg Launch.
CDC (Cadet Development Course) cadets traveled off base after an early breakfast to learn about firearm safety and earn their marksmanship badge! Many cadets qualified and even earned higher NRA ratings such as ‘Expert’ Level!
They also learned about other skills to help command a flight and squadron. Plus there was an opportunity to give feedback to CDC Leaders about the CDC school.
WCA (Wisconsin Cadet Academy) cadets went off base to do some team building on the rappelling wall at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse – nothing says trust me like walking off the edge of a building (safely!)
But seeing the F35 up close and personal was probably the highlight for many cadets.
Of Course, before the day was over we recognize our Honor Cadets and Flight awards.
Tonight we recognized Honor Cadets and Flight Awards:
Wisconsin Cadet Academy: Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Erickson
Cadet Development Course: Cadet Staff Sergeant Laird
Wisconsin Basic School: Cadet Airman Wilder
Spirit Award: Delta Flight
Honor Flight for WI Basic School: Charlie Flight
