Day 4 Wisconsin Encampment is in the books and Cadets have had another full day!
The special events and activities are in full swing with the HREF (High-Risk Entry Facility) activity, tours, military brass visits, and continued development opportunities.
There was a very special honor this afternoon for three of the WCA Cadets. Colonel Dykstra, Director of Staff – Wisconsin Air National Guard, presented Mitchell Awards to three C/2nd Lieutenants: Saunders, Slade, and Schleuse.
WBS (Wisconsin Basic School) activities included a training session with the 128th Air Refueling Wing at the High-Risk Entry Facilities (HREF). Cadets learned how to keep their cool in a stressful situation, communicate with each other, and perform a mission!
Another special event in the afternoon with a visit to the Weapons Storage Facility to learn about safely storing, constructing, and de-constructing munitions.
CDC (Cadet Development Course) cadets had a day focused on developing leadership skills as they look forward to advancing in the CAP Program. They learned about having a ‘Command Voice’ and ‘Presence’ which they practiced leading drill.
They had a detailed Inspection today including uniforms and barracks. They also had to solve problems in the GLP activity.
WCA (Wisconsin Cadet Academy) cadets had a very special and challenging day. As mentioned above, three cadets were presented Mitchell Awards. At that time Col. Dykstra offered her insights into a military career and answered cadet questions.
These cadets also dove deep into challenging introspection with the Peer Evaluations and Leadership feedback. This provided an opportunity many adults lack!
Of Course, before the day was over we recognize our Honor Cadets and Flight awards.
